Let guests find their photos with a selfie
Updated July 8, 2026
Face search lets a guest take a selfie and instantly see only the photos they appear in. It's the fastest way for a big group — a team, a wedding, a formal — to get their own shots without you sorting anything by hand.
How it works for guests
- The guest opens the gallery link and taps Find your photos.
- They take or choose a photo of their face.
- Shotfolio matches it against the gallery and shows just their photos — no app, no login.
If the match doesn't work the first time, guests get a clear prompt (for example, "Try a clearer, front-facing photo") and can try again.
Turning it on
Face search runs on a gallery once its photos have been indexed. Indexing happens automatically after upload, so newly added photos become searchable shortly after they finish processing. Enable face search on the gallery you want it for, and share the link as usual.
Face data is used only to match guests to their photos in that gallery. Be upfront with your clients that this feature is available — it's a great thing to mention when you send the link.
Good selfies match better
Share these tips with guests when it matters:
- Use a clear, front-facing photo.
- Avoid heavy shadows or sunglasses.
- If nothing matches, try another photo — angle and lighting make a big difference.
When a guest isn't found
If a guest doesn't appear in the results, it usually means there's no confident match yet. They can retry with a better selfie, or browse the full gallery and download from there.
